Tracey Bell
Dr Tracey Bell's work at IRL involves glycan isolation and analysis, in particular glycoaminoglycans and plant polysaccharides.

Tracey Bell
Dr Tracey Bell is one of the few biologists in the Carbohydrate Chemistry group. Most of Dr Bell’s tertiary study was done at the University of Auckland, where she was awarded a PhD in Plant Science and Biology in 2004. She then accepted a role as postdoctoral scientist at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Centre at the University of Georgia in the United States.
On her return to New Zealand in 2006, Dr Bell shifted south to Wellington to join IRL. Her work mainly involves glycan isolation and analysis, particularly glycoaminoglycans and plant polysaccharides. She enjoys the challenge of piecing together data using a range of analytical techniques.
Dr Bell enjoys being part of the Carbohydrate Chemistry team which she describes as cohesive and friendly and her colleagues as generous about sharing their specialty knowledge.
She is married and is the proud mother of two beautiful children.
