Hydrogen technologies laboratory

Our laboratory is available to test and evaluate small-scale hydrogen energy systems. Its focus is characterising the variable power performance of hydrogen-electricity conversion equipment such as fuel cells and electrolysers. It has the capacity to test systems with power inputs and outputs of up to 10kW. These can be grid-connected or operated as standalone energy systems.

Fuell cell applications and demonstrations

We have established a distributed energy pilot project in the remote Totara Valley farming district in the Wairarapa as part of New Zealand’s contribution to international understanding of renewable hydrogen energy and its potential as a future energy carrier. Read more >>
