Analysis of cement and concrete samples

Industrial Research has the expertise to solve a diverse range of industrial problems associated with the durability and use of traditional cements and concretes through more than 30 years experience in understanding the materials chemistry of these systems. Specialist analytical services are also available for the analysis of cement and concrete samples.

Our analytical services include:

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDX)

  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is used to examine and capture images of surfaces from x 25 - 50 000 magnification.
  • Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDX) gives elemental analysis of samples from an area as small as 1 square micron.

X-Ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD)

  • A technique which can be used for identification of rock or mineral content of powder samples, or determination of the chemical structure of crystalline materials.

Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA)

  • DTA determines the precise temperature at which a reaction takes place or identifies a phase change.

Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)

  • Precise measurement of the weight change of a solid as it is heated at a controlled rate.

Particle Size Analysis

  • Rapid determinations of particle size distribution to cover the range 1000 microns - 0.5 microns are possible in minutes.
