Summer student programme
IRL’s summer student programme provides university students with the opportunity to work within a world class Crown Research Institute (CRI) mandated to conduct scientific research and development in the manufacturing and service sectors that delivers ongoing economic, social and environmental benefits.
This is our fourth year of offering university students the opportunity to work at IRL during the summer break. We are very proud of the students who came to us through our summer programme as a university student and are now employed and/or engaged at IRL. Our summer student positions within the science and non-science groups of our business are ideally suited to university students in their second or third year of a Bachelor of Science degree or a relevant Degree for the position advertised respectively. If you are a student completing a Master’s degree in an applicable engineering, science or non-science field we encourage you to apply.
IRL’s summer student programme is extremely competitive and you will need to have a proven record of academic excellence.
Working as a summer student at IRL will provide you with an opportunity to:

- complete compulsory industry work experience required for your degree

Terms and conditions
IRL recognises the importance of students having exposure to real work experiences. Students are therefore not only learning new skills they are also expected to deliver a presentation on the work they have been doing to an audience of their peers and the wider IRL community. Read more >>
